The top 25 riders after the Grand Prix team event compete as individuals
in the more difficult Grand Prix Special. The Special includes the most demanding movements
from the Grand Prix, spaced much closer together, making the transitions between
movements critical to a good score. Anky Van Grunsven and Bonfire
were simply incredible and earned a score of 77.67%!
Here is Lars Petersen and Uffe Korshojgaard
of Denmark, and Guenter Seidel with Graf George
of the USA. Seidel kept the temperamental horse together and earned a great score
of 71.81%.
Steffen Peters and Udon had a very nice ride.
One of the crowd favorites is always Klaus Balkenhol and Goldstern who
had a very relaxed and effortless looking test.
The long lunch break featured a demonstration by cutting horses. These quarter
horses are the most agile equines in the world. They show off their
ability to balance on their hind end as they keep their front pivoted toward
the cow at all times.
