700 acres of lush pasture and century old trees in the heart of Oldham
County, KY is Hermitage Farm, with a 60 year tradition of breeding stakes winners
including Dark Star (Kentucky Derby '53), Lomond (English 2000 Guineas), Shaadi
(Irish 2000 Guineas), Northern Trick (French Oaks), and Gaily (Irish 1000 Guineas).
Until recent years, Hermitage Farm was led by the late Warner L. Jones, Jr., who purchased the farm in 1935. Mr. Jones had an extremely distinguished career in the thoroughbred industry including positions as Chairman of the Board of Churchill Downs, as a director of the Kentucky Thoroughbred Association and Keeneland Association, and as president of the Thoroughbred Breeders of Kentucky.
After Warner Jones passed away, Hermitage Farm was bought by Mr. Carl Pollard who in addition to serving
as a Director of Churchill Downs, is continuing the fine tradition begun by Mr. Jones of breeding, boarding, and
selling yearlings. And the '96 breeding season included a new stallion at
